Take me out to the ball game, give me a spot to draw and I'm in heaven. I am a huge baseball fan. Baseball cards, cracker jacks, foul balls, I love it all. So in making relationships with local corporate identities, I am excited to being working with the Single A Professional baseball club the Modesto Nuts. I will be drawing at themed nights throughout their baseball season.
My kids went to this school. Even they are now entering or are enrolled in high school, the still look forward to going back to their elementary school and seeing their former teachers, and staff members. This is one of the great community events, and so of course, I have to participate. This is my second year drawing caricatures for the Jamboree, and it was just as successful as the first!
It was rain or shine. And I guess God went with rain. The Doggy Dash at WIlliam Land park was a success for me, if just because it gave me a chance to break in my new pop up tent. The rain came down, but surprisingly, the dog and their human friends came out. I was busy the entire event, and like it happens so often, I closed out the place as one of the last vendors to close up shop.
After a day of much needed rain, it's okay to ask for a break so locals from the Sacramento area can enjoy the outdoors, numerous culinary takes on the classic grilled cheese, and caricatures. This was the first of what should be an annual event, the Sacramento Grilled Cheese Festival. And as families, couples, and friends chose to take some time from the busy schedule of sandwich lines to get a funny drawing by me.
Spring Break is here! And I'm over here. Here is LegoLand, CA in Carlsbad , CA. Just 8 hours away from home in Sacramento. I use this time to visit my family, staying with my parents, only minutes away from my sister and brother. Also equally important, just minutes from the beach.
LL Cool J as created by Sacramento based caricature artist JAGuerzon. This was day 2 in the series celebrating the work of hip hop artists. LL Cool J is popular for songs such as "Mama Said Knock You Out" and "I Need Love". Do you have a favorite?
A rainy winter evening in San Francisco is still an amazing site to see. The city skyline is a great backdrop to a celebration. Drawing caricatures gives me the opportunity to see so many locations, but San Francisco is one of the best.
Some kids will grow up and just see another birthday pass. I'd like to think that someday Christina will have a chance to look back at these pictures and even the caricatures themselves. Maybe she'll see the smiles, and the faces of people who are part of her life. Great grandmothers, grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunts, cousins, people who have in part made our life wonderful.
This year I have been looking to try a few new things in my caricature work. I love doing live caricatures, but in the past I haven't done a lot of studio work. So with the inspiration of other caricature artists and the organizers of a #caricatureresolution2017, a month long challenge to create an image of pre-determined celebrities, I am proud to say I've committed to growing in this art form, January and beyond.
