Every birthday is special. How awesome is it to celebrate with a halo halo bar? That is not a double video game bar, it's a Filipino treat, sort of like a yogurt/smoothie. Anyways, I'm always excited to draw when the parents are so enthusiastic and have never had a caricature drawn before. On this day I drew 54 faces in just over two hours.
One of my favorite questions to ask at Live Caricature events is, "Have you been drawn together before?" I am always amazed to hear the reasons to bypass caricature at fairs, boardwalks, theme parks, and the such. But, I'm also equally excited to be the first to hook them into my passion for seeing the self in cartoon form.
October was a pretty good run, not counting the SF Giants loss to the Cubs. I've had an opportunity to do a few live engagements with my favorite subjects, Man's Best Friend. This is my second year working with Green Valley Pets of El Dorado Hills at Dogtober. Thanks to the staff for helping me keep the crowds lively on a warm day in the shade.
Caricatures are popular in so many settings. On this evening, Pat invited me to draw for his client appreciation evening. I have worked with Pat before so this was a comfortable setting. It was a nice addition to the event, as individuals and couples walked in to live music, great food, an ME.
Most of the couples had never been drawn together, so it is such a pleasure to be the first caricature artist to capture them in ink. There were laughs, and compliments, and I look forward to joining Stifel and Pat again.
