One of my favorite moments in doing live caricatures is that first series of drawing that I create to convince a crowd that I'm worthy of a small wait in line. I can hear over my shoulder every comment. "Hey, he's pretty good!" or "He made that kid look cute!"
Lately, I've been working on speeding up my process. I was able to distribute tickets to kids in groups of ten, The kids responded well to the order, and when the evening was completed I didn't have any disappointed faces for standing in line for nothing. The last 10 sketches were less than 2 minutes a face, with little or no grayscale added. I thought this was a good way to end the time, and guarantee that every ticket was rewarded.
Thank you to Ethan's family for giving me this opportunity to draw during the celebration. I really appreciate all the kids for being patient, and laughing kindly with each caricature.
