One of my favorite moments in doing live caricatures is that first series of drawing that I create to convince a crowd that I'm worthy of a small wait in line. I can hear over my shoulder every comment. "Hey, he's pretty good!" or "He made that kid look cute!"

I am always honored to be part of a special event. Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries... Every party is different, and I enjoy each opportunity to draw a new group. Many times I draw a large number of kids, but every so often I get a chance to draw only adults.
Sometimes I just have to stand back and just remind myself how blessed I am. My most recent adventure came about yesterday. After working on a few pieces in the morning, I take a short afternoon job to assist kids in a local school. While I'm on my break I get a call about a caricature spot that is happening that evening. Who does this? I DO! I call a couple of friends and convince them to go to the job spot which is about and hour and a half away. But it's at a casino so what else are 3 guys doing on a Tuesday. We arrive, and my pals split to the gaming room. I go right to drawing. I meet Dee and her family. I pull out my keepsake caricature, and I get a quick laugh. It's always an artist ego boost to get that first laugh. I knock out each person while they are still on appetizers, and leave before they finish their main course. Dee's 87th Birthday, Oroville, CAThat's how I DO IT! How was your Tuesday?
